well behaved daylily.
It bears it's pretty blossoms with great substance atop a strong

award winning PURE &
SIMPLE } to Bob Carr's AMERICA'S MOST WANTED. PRINCESS

from White Summer may have various pink colored watermarks because
of the A.Bluebird heritage in the background. |

LAVENDER STORIES

This is registered as an unknown
because Ravens in the yard pulled the ID tags out in this area
of the seedling garden. I believe it was from ALWAYS AFTERNOON

This very large lavender tetraploid
daylily is a vigorous grower. Fourth flower measurements were
taken and it was 7.25 " across with 3.75" wide petals.
Lavender Stories opens a wide flat flower every two to three
days per scape. It has very good flower presentation and long
bloom time because of this trait.
Very pod fertile, I set virtually
every flower two summers ago trying to capture this wide petaled
look and heavy texture in other colors. I can hardly wait to
see the seedlings from these crosses. They should start to bloom
next season.
Lavender Stories' foliage habit
is semi-evergreen and midseason flowering.
Maverick Gardeners
"Three independent-minded
gardeners didn't like the way things were on their turf. So one
started digging, one stopped mowing, and a third is creating
his own breed of daylilies." Continued by Claire Ackroyd in the April issue of
The Bangor Metro. |

SIMPLE
SPLENDOR
(PURE& SIMPLE X PATRICIAN
SPLENDOR)
I don't usually like the blending
of the parent names for cultivars but this one certainly fits
the blend of both the parents.
A large flower at 6" and an
early bloom time put this one opening before many of the large
tetraploids even start. A nice clean pink that passes on its
elegant ruffles to its offspring.

PURPLE TUFF ENUFF
Don Church 2006
$45.00/ Double Fan
 |
PURPLE TUFF ENUFF
[ Houdini x (Court Magician x Admirals braid )]
Wide petals measured at 3.25 inches
and blooming over a long period from Midseason through late season.
Purple Tuff Enuff opens flat after 48 - 50° nights, it
opens flat when most of all of the registered purples and lavenders
in the garden do not. These cold nights happen frequently here
on the coast of Maine during the bloom season making this selection
a winner in cold northern locations such as our own. In hot weather
PTE rolls back as it is shown in the picture.
